Kick off the New Year with a classic summer tradition — the Thames Gold Cup, raced every January at Te Aroha Racecourse. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly day out featuring kids’ activities, summer raceday fashion, and the much-loved Thames Flounder Pack spot prizes.

This intergenerational favourite brings together families and friends from the Coromandel to the Plains for a vibrant day of racing, live music, and great food options from a range of food trucks.

Make the day your own with a reserved picnic spot on the home-straight lawn — perfect for celebrations or simply gathering with friends. Spots are limited and sell quickly.
$130 per site (BYO umbrellas or gazebos).
Gate admission: $10 per adult. Under 18s free.
